A fantastic 2 day fully guided kayaking adventure in the picturesque Kangaroo Valley region three hours south of Sydney. The towering sheer sandstone cliffs of the lower Shoalhaven Gorge are considered to be, one of the most beautiful places of natural beauty in Australia especially after rain with many waterfalls coming over the majestic cliffs. Only accessible by kayak, this remote area is tranquility at its best with only the sounds of birds to wake you up in the morning. We'll camp overnight at Fossicker's Flats where we'll enjoy a glass of wine and a delicious gourmet dinner.

A deposit of $100 per person is required at time of booking to secure your place, with final payments due 4 weeks prior to departure. (Note: If you are booking within 3 weeks of your departure date - we will require full payment at time of booking). By using Life's An Adventure's Online Payment System, you agree to the automatic debit of the remaining balance from your credit card 4 weeks prior to your departure for final payment. You must ensure that sufficient funds are available for debit at that time. Prices are per person in Australian dollars and include GST.

HOW STABLE ARE OUR KAYAKS:
Our kayaks are state of the art dagger sea kayaks, they are extremely stable and the chances of a capsize are very remote. You will be wearing a PFD (life jacket) at all times and the kayaks are virtually unsinkable due to their airtight compartments.

FITNESS LEVELS:
This is a 2 day kayak, with ample rest stops along the way, suitable for all persons with average fitness from beginners to advanced.

WEATHER CONDITIONS:
Rain will not affect the operation of our activities, in fact some of the best kayaking conditions are during rain. However strong winds may cause cancellation of our activities. If winds do look like they will affect the tour we will call you to discuss an alternative date.

IMPORTANT: Whilst we do provide alcohol to enjoy during dinner we advise drinking in moderation. Kayaking can be strenuous and excessive alcohol and kayaking do not mix.

DAY 1:

  • 7.00am Sydney Hotel Pickups
  • 10.00am Meet at Tallowa Dam, Kangaroo Valley
  • The next 45- 60  minutes will be spent packing our gear into the kayak, a tricky juggling act to fit everything in. Followed by a safety talk and a demonstration on paddling techniques.
  • We set off kayaking past the dam and head up the arm of the river through the magnificent Shoalhaven Gorge. Enjoy the picturesque scenery and the peaceful remoteness of this untouched area.
  • We'll camp overnight at our riverside campsite, where we'll enjoy a glass of wine and a delicious gourmet dinner.

DAY 2:

  • After a hearty breakfast we pack up the campsite
  • We explore the river further before making the return journey.
  • With plenty of stops for a swim and break for lunch.
  • We arrive back at Tallowa Dam at approximately 4pm the finish of a remarkable journey.

Things To Bring

WHAT TO WEAR: You will get wet when kayaking from the paddle splash as well as getting wet feet as you get in and out of the kayak. Please wear comfortable lightweight clothes (no jeans) a Tshirt (ideally long sleeve) or sun shirt (rashie), additional layers for cold / windy days, comfortable shorts and footwear that can get wet such as crocs. Wear your swimming costume if you would like to enjoy a swim. We run kayaking tours all year round. We will provide you with spray skirts which keep you warm and stop you getting wet from paddle splash. Please wear a wet weather jacket to keep you warm and dry on top. Wear a hat and sunscreen.

WHAT TO BRING: Important: This is a very remote area with no access to the campsite via vehicle ‐ therefore all ourcamping equipment, food and your clothes need to fit in the hull of the kayaks. There is extremely limited space and food and equipment come before your clothes. Pack lightly and please place all your clothes in a heavy duty plastic bag.

Your bag should include: Clothes:

  • 1 set of kayaking clothes for day two. eg Tshirt or long sleeve shirt or rashie, shorts 1 change of clothes to change into at night, make sure you bring something warm in case it is cool at night, thermal underwear, jumper, scarf, beanie, gloves, socks etc
  • underwear
  • swimmers / bathers
  • personal toiletries. deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, brush or comb
  • towel
  • Sleeping Bag (we can hire these to you if you don’t have one)

Have these items separate so you can access whilst kayaking.

  • camera
  • hat
  • Personal emergency medication e.g. Ventolin
  • Rain jacket suitable to the conditions; preferably made of a waterproof and breathable fabric and if possible waterproof pants
  • A lightweight torch (or headtorch) with spare batteries and globe
  • sun glasses
  • sun screen
  • Water bladder or container with three litres of water

Cancellation Policy

FINAL PAYMENTS:
A deposit of $100 is required at time of booking to secure your place with final payments 4 weeks prior to departure. By using Life's An Adventure's Online Payment System, you agree to the automatic debit of the remaining balance from your credit card 4 weeks prior to your departure for final payment. You must ensure that sufficient funds are available for debit at that time.

CANCELLATIONS:
- Cancellations received 21 days or more prior to tour departure will incur a loss of deposit.
- Cancellations received between 8 & 20 days prior to tour departure will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of full tour cost.
- Cancellations received 7 days or less prior to tour departure will incur a cancellation fee of 100% of full tour cost.
- Please also note that failure to arrive will incur a fee of 100% of full tour cost.
- Transfers can be made at least 5 days prior to departure to another date as long as new departure date is within 6 months of original booking date. Transfers will incur a $5.00 administration fee.



CONDITIONS OF TRAVEL:

Our activities will normally operate in all but exceptional weather conditions. Conditions such as fog, mist, drizzle, showers, rain,sleet and windy conditions do not affect normal operation of our activities.

The Company reserves the right to cancel any ticket or booking or to refuse to carry any passenger where payments have not been received by the Company within the times specified. It is a condition of carriage that a passenger has paid all tour monies prior to the departure of the tour.

The Company reserves the right to alter the accommodation and/or itinerary or cancel a tour without notice as may be found necessary for any reason whatsoever including, but not limited to, road, weather , bushfires or traffic conditions, track or park closures, strong winds, high seas, operational conditions and requirements. Where a tour is cancelled prior to the departure date we shall endeavour to offer the nearest possible alternative tour (subject to a refund or payment to cover any tour price difference) or, it this is not acceptable, refund your monies in full. All additional expenses incurred as a result of any delays, cancellations or alterations will be the sole responsibility of the passenger.

A minimum number participants booked are required to operate all tours, where sufficient numbers cannot be achieved, the Company reserves the right to cancel a scheduled departure. The decision to operate the tour is usually made 14 days prior to the departure date.

Any special passenger requirements must be notified to the Company at the time of booking. No passenger will be permitted to embark or continue on the tour while their mental or physical condition is, in the opinion of any representative of the Company, such as to render them incapable of caring for themselves, or whereby they become objectionable to other passengers, or they become a hazard to themselves or other passengers.

Pickup/Departure

Please arrive at 10.00am at Tallowa Dam near Kangaroo Valley.Tallowa Dam is approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes from Sydney, please allow ample time to drive there. Meet at the carpark at Tallowa Dam at the end of Tallowa Dam Road, near Kangaroo Valley – see our website location map.

Pickups are available from any hotel in the Sydney CBD (Central Business District). Pick ups will be around 7am. Please be waiting ready in the hotel reception or designated location as organised. (Note if you are continuing your
travels after this trip – we ask that you leave your suitcases with the hotel and only take an overnight bag as outlined in the "Things to Bring section"

Drop-Off

Finish time on day 2 is at approximately 3.00pm
Arrival time back in Sydney to your hotel, will be at approximately 6pm.
